Lumenus was born from a couple driven by a shared passion for design and craftsmanship. In Copenhagen, at the heart of the legacy of Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton and Louis Poulsen, they discovered a simple truth: beauty can be both demanding and accessible.
Lumenus is its expression in eyewear: designs signed by J., one-of-a-kind, numbered sunglasses,rooted in French craftsmanship and created through a responsible and accessible approach— designed to reveal your individuality.
J, (Jérôme) grew up in Morez, the historic heart of French eyewear manufacturing. He watched his father assemble frames, fit lenses, and adjust them with precision. After training as a mechanical engineer and studying at art school, he naturally followed this path — through sketches and prototypes.
At Marius Morel, he refined his eye, evolving from designer to head of the creative studio.
There, he signed optical collections such as Koali, Lightec and Öga, before setting out on his own in 2007.
Together with Magnus Lennartsson, he took over Eurovisie, a manufacturing and distribution company, developing and expanding their brands You’s and De Stijl worldwide.

A, (Aurélia) comes from the world of precision engineering. Over 20 years of experience, she has witnessed the negative impact of standardization and mass production on both the environment and cultural diversity.
Driven by a love of travel and local immersion, she has worked across Scandinavia, Asia and the United States, collaborating with some of Switzerland’s leading companies.
These experiences shaped her deep respect for Swiss standards of quality, along with a strong desire to preserve cultural diversity — to allow each individual to live their individuality, to exist in their uniqueness.

A responsible approach
Our pieces are crafted from revalorized acetate sheets.
Each year, tons of acetate — discarded by fast-fashion production — are burned in the open air. We reclaim these materials to create our frames, much like a hand-stitched patchwork quilt. Each creation is unique — impossible to reproduce.
